EMDR Intensive Therapy: Focused Healing in Less Time
Life doesn’t always leave space for weekly therapy. Demands on your time, energy, and emotional capacity can make it difficult to commit to long-term weekly sessions, even when you’re ready for change. EMDR Intensives provide an alternative, a focused and immersive way to do the work of therapy in a condensed, supportive format. Rooted in Wellness Counseling offers 3-hour and 6-hour EMDR Intensive sessions designed to help you experience meaningful progress in a shorter period of time. By spending extended time together, we can move more deeply into your story without the interruptions or limitations of the weekly model.

What is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based approach that helps people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. EMDR works by activating the brain’s natural ability to reprocess painful memories in a safe and structured way. In EMDR, we use a combination of focused attention and bilateral stimulation (gentle eye movements, sounds, or tapping) to help the brain “unstick” from the past. This process allows distressing memories to be re-stored in a healthier way so they no longer carry the same emotional charge. Through EMDR, negative beliefs like “I’m not safe” or “I’m not good enough” can shift toward more adaptive beliefs like “I am safe now” or “I am enough.”

Flexible Scheduling Options
-
Half-Day Intensive (3 hours): A concentrated session that allows us to target and process core issues while leaving space for integration.
-
Full-Day Intensive (6 hours): A deeper immersion, with more time to process and integrate in one day.
-
At this time EMDR Intensives are only offered in-person at my office in Denton, TX.
-
A free 30-60 minute consultation is required to determine if we are a good fit, if I can help, and ensure that an intensive is right for you.

What EMDR Intensives Can Help With
While EMDR is well-known for treating trauma and PTSD, it can also help with:
-
Anxiety and panic
-
Depression
-
Grief and loss
-
Relationship and attachment wounds
-
Phobias and fears
-
Feeling “stuck” in repeating patterns
Each intensive is personalized to your needs and goals, so you can get the most out of our time together.

Working Alongside Your Current Therapist
If you already see a therapist for weekly support, EMDR Intensives can be a powerful adjunct to your ongoing therapy. They allow us to target and resolve specific concerns more quickly, while your weekly therapist continues to walk with you in long-term support.
My Approach
In EMDR Intensives, I combine the structure of EMDR with my training in:
-
Attachment-based therapy – healing relationship wounds and building self-trust
-
Somatic awareness – helping your body release what it has been holding
-
Parts work – understanding and supporting different aspects of your inner world
You are always in charge of the pace. My role is to provide a safe, compassionate environment and guide you through the process with care and respect.

The Goal of EMDR Intensives
The purpose of an intensive is not to “rush” therapy but to create a dedicated, immersive space for healing. Many clients find that the depth of work in one intensive equals what might otherwise take months of weekly sessions. If you’re ready to experience focused, compassionate, and transformative therapy, EMDR Intensives may be the right step for you. Feel free to reach out to schedule a free consultation.
